Goldman Sachs has scrapped the idea of developing a Goldman-branded credit card for retail customers amid a strategy shift, CNBC’s Hugh Son reports. According to people with knowledge of the matter, a Goldman credit card would have been part of a suite of products to help enhance the profit margins and loyalty of its retail efforts, but when it scaled back plans to become the primary bank for the masses, the rationale for a Goldman card evaporated.
