Exxon Mobil (XOM) is mulling re-entering Iraq after an almost two-year break by signing pacts that would lay the groundwork to explore the country’s giant Majnoon field, Bloomberg’s Kevin Crowley reports. The oil major intends to sign a heads of agreement with Basra Oil Company and SOMO, the country’s oil marketing firm, in the coming days, the author says, citing a person familiar with the matter. The agreement would include talks over export infrastructure and possible oil marketing projects in southern Iraq, the author notes.
