The EU is set to launch an antitrust case over Amazon’s (AMZN) proposed $1.7B acquisition of iRobot (IRBT), The Financial Times’ Javier Espinoza and Dave Lee report. According to two people with direct knowledge of the decision, regulators have sent Amazon "a series of detailed questions" over the proposed transaction, suggesting they are gearing up for a formal investigation. While the U.S. FTC is scrutinising the deal over concerns it would increase Amazon’s market power in the home electronics sector, EU investigators have privacy concerns, according to the people.
