Epic CEO tells court Google has ‘de facto control’ on Play Store, NY Times says

Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney recently testified in a San Francisco federal courthouse for the company’s legal battle against Google (GOOG;GOOGL), Yiwen Lu of The New York Times reports. “I want to make it clear to everybody exactly what was happening on these platforms,” Sweeney said, according to the Times. “I want everybody to see and understand Google exercises de facto control over the availability of apps on Android.” The nine-person jury will determine if Google violated antitrust laws by exploiting smaller rivals in a trial set to conclude next month. Investors in Epic include Tencent (TCEHY), KKR (KKR), Disney (DIS), and Sony (SONY).
