The U.S. Justice Department is investigating Archer-Daniels-Midland’s ethanol trading operation as part of a broader probe of the company’s accounting practices, sources told Reuters. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York is investigating whether ADM improperly accounted for hedges in its ethanol trading unit, three sources told Reuters’ Chris Prentice and P.j. Huffstutter.
