The biggest pharmacy chains in the U.S. have handed over customers’ prescription records to police and government investigators without a warrant, the Washington Post’s Drew Harwell reports, citing a congressional investigation. Three of the largest pharmacy chains, namely CVS Health (CVS), Kroger (KR), and Rite Aid (RAD) have said they allow pharmacy staff members to give out customers’ medical records in the store, the author says, noting that some chains require lawyers to review law enforcement requests.
