China removes Publicity official after proposed gaming rules, Reuters says

The Chinese government has removed Feng Shixin from his position as head of the publishing unit of the Communist Party’s Publicity Department days after Chinese video game stocks were hit by proposed rules to curb spending on video games, Reuters’ Josh Ye reports, citing five sources who were briefed on the matter. The Publicity Department oversees the National Press and Publication Administration, which regulates the country’s massive video game industry, the author notes. Publicly traded companies in the space include NetEase (NTES) and Tencent (TCEHY).
