BP is close to finalizing the appointment of Murray Auchincloss, its acting chief executive, as the permanent successor to Bernard Looney, who stepped down last year after failing to disclose to its board details of his personal relationships with colleagues, Sky News’ Mark Kleinman said via X, formerly known as Twitter. “I understand that BP‘s board is meeting this evening to put the finishing touches to an announcement that could come either later tonight or tomorrow morning. Auchincloss, BP’s former CFO, has been on its board for about four years,” Kleinman added.
