Biden cuts F-35 jet order by 18% in budget request for next year, Reuters says

U.S. President Joe Biden is seeking an 18% reduction in the number of Lockheed F-35 aircraft the Pentagon purchases in 2025 after Congress’ cap on the size of the upcoming defense budget compelled the White House to find new cuts, Reuters’ Mike Stone reports, citing two sources familiar with the situation. The DoD order for the stealth fighter jets will fall to below 70, down from an expected order of 83, for an estimated $1.6B cut in spending on jets, the author notes.
