AT&T has started informing U.S. state authorities and regulators of a security incident after confirming that millions of customer records posted online in March were authentic, TechCrunch’s Zach Whittaker reports. According to a filing with Maine’s attorney general’s office, the company said it issued letters notifying over 51M people that their personal data was compromised in the hack, including roughly 90,000 people in the state of Maine, the author notes.
