Ares Management is exploring a potential combination with real estate investment firm GLP Capital Partners, people with knowledge of the matter told Bloomberg’s Manuel Baigorri, Gillian Tan, Cathy Chan and Dong Cao. The firm is in talks on a possible merger with GCP’s operations outside China in what would be one of the biggest deals in the alternative asset management industry in recent years as it would add around $66B of assets under management spread across Japan, Southeast Asia, Europe, the U.S. and Brazil, the report added.
