Apple (AAPL) will continue its reliance on Korean-made displays despite making "sweeping efforts" to develop its own components, Jie Ye-eun of The Korea Herald reports, citing a report released by Institute for Information & Communications Technology Promotion. According to the report, Apple is expanding the use of in-house components as part of its strategy to maintain dominance in the market. While from a long-term perspective Apple has emerged as a new player, it will continue to source at least 60% of its components from Korean display manufacturers, such as Samsung Display (SSNLF) and LG Display (LPL), for the next several years.
