For the last decade, some Apple employees have been working on the company’s secretive car project called Titan, Brian Chen and Tripp Mickle of The New York Times reports. The car effort was scrapped and rebooted several times, beginning as an electric vehicle and eventually morphed into a self-driving car. By last Tuesday, when the company announced the project was being killed, Apple had sunk more than $10B on the project and the car had reverted back to being an electric vehicle with driving-assistance capabilities, the Times said, citing people who worked on the project.
