Anthropic, a competitor of Microsoft-backed (MSFT) OpenAI, is in discussions with investors to raise at least $2B in new funding, following Amazon (AMZN) last week committing to invest $1.25B in the company, The Information’s Kate Clark, Anissa Gardizy, and Stephanie Palazzolo report, citing three people with direct knowledge. Antrhopic has told shareholders that Google (GOOGL), which acquired a roughly 10% interest in the startup last year, is anticipated to invest in the latest round, the authors note.
