Amazon is being threatened with legal action from U.S. Food and Drug Administration, FDA, over the sale of “unapproved” drugs on its platform, Camilla Hodgson of The Financial Times reports. The FDA wrote to Amazon CEO Andy Jassy complaining drugs supposedly made to treat molluscum contagiosum were being sold on Amazon despite there being no legal over-the-counter drugs for the condition. The regulator was also concerned the drugs were being marketed for use by children. The FDA said Amazon must address its concerns or risk “legal action.” This is at least the third warning sent to Amazon in the past year over the sale of “unapproved drugs.”
