Amazon has launched its first satellites into orbit, moving its company closer to a satellite-internet business that could compete with SpaceX, Micah Maidenberg of The Wall Street Journal reports. According to a livestream on Friday, a rocket lifted off Friday afternoon carrying two Amazon prototype satellites. The company has plans for a satellite network called Project Kuiper, which it intends to invest $10B in to build it up and will offer high-speed, low-latency broadband to its subscribers.
