Netflix Expands Children’s Content With Sesame Street Streaming Deal

Video streaming service Netflix (NFLX) has amped up its child-focused content thanks to a new deal with Sesame Workshop, the production company behind Sesame Street. With this deal, Netflix has secured the global rights to stream new seasons of Sesame Street, and will also have previous seasons added to its global offerings.

Netflix notes that the new seasons of Sesame Street will bring format changes, as well as the return of popular segments, such as Elmo’s World and Cookie Monster’s Foodie Truck. The new episodes will also feature character-specific stories to offer more focused narratives.

Netflix’s Sesame Street streaming will match what’s available on PBS Kids. That means when an episode goes live on PBS and its digital platforms, it will be available on Netflix. This ensures children in the U.S. still have free access to Sesame Street while kids around the world can watch the show through Netflix.

Netflix Promises More Content for Kids

Outside of Sesame Street, Netflix has also announced a new collaboration with Peppa Pig. This brings The World of Peppa Pig app to the streaming service. Here kids can play games, solve puzzles, and take part in other activities. They can also watch new episodes from season seven of the popular animated show.

Netflix is also working on other animated series and films, including Stranger Things: Tales From ‘85, Motel Transylvania, Minecraft, Ghostbusters, Dr. Seuss, In Your Dreams, and The Twits.

Turning to Wall Street, the analysts’ consensus rating for Netflix is Moderate Buy, based on 29 Buy and 10 Hold ratings over the last three months. With that comes an average NFLX stock price target of $1,188.52, representing a potential 0.31% upside for the shares.
