“Tariffs are having a huge positive impact on the Stock Market,” Trump said in a Truth Social post on Friday. “Almost every day, new records are set. In addition, Hundreds of Billions of Dollars are pouring into our Country’s coffers.”
Russia-Ukraine Ceasefire Hopes Boost Market
The market is also getting a helping hand from hopeful developments in the Russia-Ukraine war. Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin could meet as soon as next week, according to Fox News. The two sides could agree to a peace deal that would cement Russia’s territorial gains in Ukraine.
The location of the meeting is still unclear, although the two sides are considering Hungary, Switzerland, Rome, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The White House said on Thursday that a Trump-Putin meeting wouldn’t be possible unless Putin agreed to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy first. Trump later dismissed that condition.
The Dow Jones is up by 0.27% at the time of writing.
