Packaging Corporation of America (PCA) is a leading producer in the packaging and paper industry, known for its containerboard and uncoated freesheet paper products, operating ten mills and 93 corrugated products plants across North America.

In its third quarter of 2025 earnings report, PCA announced a net income of $226.9 million, or $2.51 per share, with net sales reaching $2.3 billion, marking an increase from the previous year. Excluding special items, the net income was $246.7 million, or $2.73 per share.

Key financial highlights include an increase in earnings per share by $0.08 compared to the previous year when excluding special items. This improvement was primarily driven by higher prices and mix in the Packaging segment, alongside lower fiber costs. The acquisition of the Greif containerboard business impacted earnings, with associated costs and operational adjustments.

The Packaging segment saw a rise in shipments due to the acquisition, despite a decrease in legacy PCA shipments. The Paper segment maintained strong sales volume and operating performance. The company also emphasized strategic investments in acquired facilities to enhance future operations.

Looking forward, PCA anticipates higher corrugated shipments and improved operations at acquired facilities, although challenges such as higher maintenance expenses and seasonally lower volumes are expected. The company projects fourth-quarter earnings of $2.40 per share, excluding special items, as it continues to integrate the Greif acquisition.
