Lithium Americas Corp. (TSE:LAC) has released an update.
Lithium Americas Corp. has secured a $2.26 billion loan from the U.S. Department of Energy to fund construction of its Thacker Pass lithium processing facilities in Nevada, which is set to create 1,800 construction jobs and 360 operational jobs. The project aims to produce 40,000 tonnes of lithium annually for electric vehicle batteries, supporting up to 800,000 EVs each year, and represents a significant step in strengthening the U.S. battery supply chain and reducing reliance on foreign materials. General Motors has also made a substantial investment in the project, securing exclusive rights to the initial lithium production.
