Bulls Say, Bears Say
Bulls Say
Profitability TurnaroundThe shift from multiyear losses to sustained quarterly profitability indicates improved operating execution and product economics. If maintained, positive earnings provide internal funding capacity and strengthen the company’s ability to pursue growth without relying solely on external capital.
Capacity And Margin ExpansionRecord Delta yields, lower production costs and a higher EU GMP product mix have expanded margins, while Delta 2 adds multi-year capacity. This combination can support operating leverage and increase earnings potential as additional production becomes available through 2027 and 2028.
International Market PositionStrong export growth and broad pharmacy distribution show that Village Farms is building differentiated access in regulated international markets. EU GMP capabilities and established German positioning may create durable barriers as demand for compliant medical cannabis expands across Europe.
Bears Say
Weak Cash ConversionPositive accounting earnings have not yet translated consistently into cash available to shareholders. Taxes, working-capital needs and investment spending can absorb operating cash, limiting financial flexibility and making the profitability turnaround less durable until conversion improves.
Uneven Revenue And ExecutionThe recent earnings recovery has not been matched by a consistently strong top-line trajectory. Uneven revenue performance and the history of losses indicate sensitivity to market cycles, production execution and pricing, increasing the risk that current margins may normalize lower.
Market And Regulatory HeadwindsA mature Canadian market with shifting mix toward lower-value flower can constrain domestic growth and margins. Delayed Netherlands approvals also defer planned capacity benefits, showing that regulatory timing and market maturation could slow the company’s international expansion.

Company Description
Village Farms International
Village Farms International, Inc. cultivates, markets, and distributes greenhouse-grown produce, including tomatoes, bell peppers, and cucumbers, across North America. The company operates through four primary divisions: Produce, Cannabis-Canada, Cannabis-U.S., and Energy. In addition to its agricultural activities, it owns and manages an energy facility that generates and sells electricity while supplying thermal heat to British Columbia Hydro and Power Authority. Village Farms also produces and provides cannabis products to licensed suppliers and provincial governments both within Canada and globally. In the United States, its focus is on developing and selling health and wellness items derived from cannabinoids, such as ingestibles, edibles, and topical applications. Its offerings, encompassing both internally grown produce and products acquired through exclusive agreements with other greenhouse cultivators, are sold under the Village Farms brand to retail supermarkets and fresh food distribution companies. Founded in 1989, the company adopted its current name, Village Farms International, Inc., in December 2009, having previously been known as Village Farms Canada Inc. Its headquarters are situated in Delta, Canada.
VFF Earnings Call
Q2 2026
0:00 / 0:00
Earnings Call Sentiment|Positive
The call conveyed a predominantly positive operational and financial story: record cannabis revenues, strong export growth (74% YoY), significant gross margin expansion (up ~900 bps to 51%), and increasing adjusted EBITDA at the cannabis segment level. Key growth catalysts include Delta 2 expansion (incremental +15 mt in 2026, +25 mt in 2027, full +40 mt run rate by Q3 2027), a leading EU GMP-certified Delta campus, and early momentum in Netherlands recreational operations. Near-term headwinds include sizable tax and working capital cash outflows (reducing Q2 cash flow from $19.2M to $8.9M), higher SG&A %, a slight Netherlands Phase II delay, and maturation/price pressure in the Canadian market. Overall, the strengths and growth drivers presented materially outweigh the manageable near-term challenges.View all VFF earnings summariesVFF Stock 12 Month Forecast
