Bulls Say, Bears Say
Bulls Say
Recurring Consumables From Installed BaseBoule’s business model generates recurring revenue via consumables and service after instrument placements. An installed base creates predictable, high-frequency consumable demand that supports steady revenue streams and margins over multiple years, enhancing cash flow durability.
Stable Gross MarginsCore product economics show consistent low-to-mid 40% gross margins, indicating durable unit-level profitability. Stable gross margins provide a buffer for operating leverage and support margin sustainability if top-line volumes recover or cost control continues.
Turnaround To Positive Operating And Free Cash FlowTrailing‑12‑month operating and free cash flow have returned to positive, improving liquidity and reducing near-term refinancing pressure. Positive FCF underpins investment in service, consumables scale, and R&D, making the business more resilient despite past volatility.
Bears Say
Rising LeverageDebt rising above equity materially weakens the balance sheet and reduces financial flexibility. Higher leverage increases interest and refinancing risk, limits ability to invest in growth or weather cyclical revenue weakness, and amplifies downside if earnings remain uneven.
Top-line DeclineRevenue declines undermine operating leverage and the recurring consumables model’s potential scale benefits. Sustained top-line weakness can compress margins, reduce installed-base growth, and make cash flow improvements harder to sustain over the medium term.
Persistent Small Net LossesDespite operating profit, the company posts small net losses, indicating non-operating costs or interest burdens offsetting core results. Continued bottom-line losses impede equity rebuild, limit capital allocation flexibility, and leave results vulnerable to margin or demand shocks.
