Q4 2026 Earnings Call Summary
The call conveyed a cautiously positive long-term outlook, supported by fourth-quarter revenue and earnings growth, strong safety and execution, recurring technology revenue growth, infrastructure momentum, cost-reduction initiatives, liquidity and strategic investments in Brazil and manufacturing capacity. However, the full-year financial results declined, irrigation markets remain subdued, price-cost pressure persists, Brazil faces near-term constraints and no large MENA project is expected to begin delivery in fiscal 2027. Overall, the positive operational execution and strategic positioning outweighed the near-term challenges.
Management expects the $8 million in net annualized cost reductions to begin materializing in fiscal 2027, irrigation equipment investment in North America to remain relatively subdued until there is a more sustained level of commodity price support and net farm income, and price realization to take a couple of quarters to flow through after input-cost stabilization. In MENA, the remaining services revenue is expected to be recognized over the next 12 to 24 months, with no large project awards currently anticipated to begin delivery in fiscal 2027; management expects to cover at least half of the $70 million project gap with smaller projects and other growth initiatives, including opportunities in the $10 million, $15 million, $20 million range. Infrastructure is expected to show continued growth in road safety products, Road Zipper leasing is expected to remain generally in line with fiscal 2026, and the next-generation galvanizing operation is expected to be online before calendar year-end, with full capacity potentially reached 30, 60 days later. The fiscal 2027 tax rate is expected to normalize back in that 24.5%, 25% range.
- Fourth-Quarter Revenue and Earnings GrowthFiscal fourth-quarter revenue was $161.6 million, up 5% year-over-year. Net earnings increased to $11.3 million from $10.8 million, while diluted earnings per share rose to $1.10 from $0.99.
- Strong Safety PerformanceLindsay achieved a total recordable incident rate below 1.0, described as a world-class level of performance. Norfolk, Olathe, France and Italy operations each achieved perfect safety records for the year.
- Restructuring and Cost-Reduction ProgramThe global restructuring plan is expected to generate $8 million in net annualized cost reductions after reinvesting a portion of the savings in priority growth initiatives. The costs associated with the program were fully realized in fiscal 2026, with identified savings expected to begin materializing in fiscal 2027.
- North America Irrigation Rebound in the Fourth QuarterNorth America irrigation revenue increased 11% to $55.4 million in the fourth quarter, driven primarily by higher unit volumes, near-term improvement in agricultural commodity prices and slightly higher storm-damage replacement volume. Management also noted volume outside the traditional storm market.
- Agricultural Technology Recurring-Revenue MomentumAnnual recurring revenue in Agricultural Technology grew approximately 11% year-over-year, extending the business's five-year CAGR to more than 15%. FieldNET and FieldNET Advisor are expanding customer relationships beyond the initial equipment sale.
- Successful MENA Project ExecutionThe company completed all scheduled equipment shipments for the MENA project despite ongoing regional uncertainty and recognized approximately $70 million of MENA revenue during the fiscal year. It also completed equipment delivery for the $80 million project during the fourth quarter.
- Infrastructure Fourth-Quarter GrowthInfrastructure revenue increased 13% to $27.8 million in the fourth quarter, primarily due to higher road safety product sales. Segment operating income increased 41% to $5 million, and operating margin improved to 17.9% from 14.4%, supported by higher revenue and a more favorable margin mix.
- Underlying Infrastructure Growth Excluding Prior-Year ProjectExcluding the large Road Zipper project sale in the prior year, Infrastructure revenue increased 11% and operating income increased 12% compared with the prior year.
- Improved Brazil Irrigation IndicatorsAlthough near-term demand remains constrained, quotation activity in Brazil improved year-over-year, and expectations for drier conditions in the north are increasing grower interest in irrigation. Management described customers as ready to invest once election-related uncertainty and financing conditions improve.
- Setorial Irrigação Acquisition AgreementLindsay signed a definitive agreement to acquire 100% of Setorial Irrigação, a Brazilian hose-reel irrigation manufacturer. The transaction is intended to expand Lindsay's irrigation portfolio, support growth in Brazil and Latin America, reach smaller and irregularly shaped fields and leverage Setorial's sugarcane customer relationships and Lindsay's dealer network.
- Infrastructure Pipeline and Road Zipper MomentumManagement reported continued growth expectations for road safety products, supported by infrastructure investment and new product introductions. Road Zipper leasing momentum continued, with additional project opportunities under development, while fiscal 2027 leasing is expected to remain generally in line with fiscal 2026.
- Expansion of Galvanizing and Manufacturing CapacityThe next-generation galvanizing operation at the Lindsay, Nebraska facility is expected to be online before calendar year-end, alongside the tube mill investment. The capabilities are designed to improve safety, capacity, productivity and operating flexibility, while enabling contract manufacturing and galvanizing services for outside customers in the Midwest.
- Strong Liquidity and Cash Flow PositionTotal available liquidity at the end of the fourth quarter was $239.8 million, including $189.8 million in cash and cash equivalents and $50 million available under the revolving credit facility. Full-year free cash flow was 62% of net earnings, with capital expenditures of $40.2 million.
- Shareholder Returns and Capital Allocation FlexibilityLindsay returned $96.1 million to shareholders during fiscal 2026, including $80.7 million of share repurchases and $15.4 million of dividends, representing approximately 173% of net earnings. A new share repurchase authorization of up to $150 million was approved, with $100 million remaining available after fiscal-year repurchases.
- Expected Tax-Rate NormalizationManagement characterized the elevated quarterly tax rate as a one-time item. The full-year tax rate was just over 26%, and the fiscal 2027 tax rate is expected to normalize to approximately 24.5% to 25%.
