Q3 2026 Earnings Call Summary

Q3 2026
Earnings Call Date:Oct 29, 2026|% Change Since:―|
Earnings Call Sentiment|Neutral

The call was mixed but leaned cautious: HGV highlighted resilient recurring businesses, improving late-quarter sales trends, strong credit performance, membership growth and continued capital returns, but these positives were counterbalanced by an 11% contract sales decline, a 12% VPG decline, weaker-than-expected execution, near-term sales and marketing pressure, and a material reduction in full-year EBITDA guidance.

Company Guidance

HGV reduced full-year adjusted EBITDA guidance to $1,165 million to $1,180 million, expects tours to be in the positive low to mid-single digits, VPG to decline in the high single digits, and contract sales to be down in the mid-single digits; for the fourth quarter, it expects VPG to decline in the mid-single digits and sales to be down in the low to mid-single digits, with sales “in that kind of low to mid-single digits in line with what we saw in October.” The company expects full-year free-cash-flow conversion to remain in the lower half of its long-term target range of 55% to 65%, inventory spend of approximately $285 million this year and below $300 million next year, provision to be centered around the mid-teens going forward, potentially as low as 14% or as high as 18%, rental business performance in line with last year, resort and club “probably slightly a hair up” versus the prior year, and financing in line with previous expectations; its long-term algorithm calls for low to mid-single-digit tour flow growth with low to single-digit VPG growth, and the licensing fee rate is 5% at a normalized run rate starting January 1.

  • Resilient Recurring Revenue and Cash Flow ModelManagement said the underlying business model, recurring revenue streams and cash flow generation remained resilient despite pressure on contract sales. Club and resort and financing businesses together represent well over half of segment profit.
  • Late-Quarter Improvement in Sales TrendsAugust marked the low point for sales, while September narrowed the gap considerably, with several key sales centers returning to positive growth. Management said the measured improvement continued into October, and contract sales growth trends improved materially each month on a 2-year stack basis.
  • Sales Organization Investments and Recruiting ProgressHGV brought in over 430 experienced salespeople during the last four months, plus an additional 350 people with real estate experience, including 165 former HGV sales representatives. The company also strengthened recruiting incentives, retention programs and staffing in its recruiting organization.
  • Financing Business Growth and Margin ExpansionFinancing revenue grew 16% to $149 million and profit was $94 million. Financing margins excluding amortization associated with acquired receivables increased 300 basis points to 64%.
  • Club and Resort Business GrowthThe consolidated member count reached 716,000. Club and resort revenue grew 2% to $196 million, with profit of $136 million and margins of 69%. HGV Max membership grew 20% and surpassed 300,000 members.
  • Improved Credit Performance and Provision BenefitThe provision rate was 12.5% of owned contract sales versus 16.8% in the prior year. The quarter benefited from improving credit performance, particularly at Bluegreen, and a consolidated allowance methodology that produced a $55 million change in estimate. Delinquencies were stable sequentially and down from year-end; Bluegreen 31- to 60-day delinquencies were at 2022 levels in early October, while Diamond remained at a 5-year low.
  • Low Cost of Product and Inventory RecaptureCost of product was 9.4% in the quarter, described as being at the low end of the company's long-term range. Management said cost of product declined from 25% to 30% before the acquisitions to the high teens after Diamond, the mid-teens after Bluegreen, and a longer-range expectation of approximately 10% to 12%, or possibly 13%, depending on mix.
  • Lower Inventory Spending OutlookExpected inventory spending for the year was reduced to approximately $285 million from the prior estimate of $375 million, a $90 million reduction. Management also expects inventory spending to remain below $300 million next year.
  • Share Repurchases and Capital ReturnsThe company repurchased 2.4 million shares for $110 million during the quarter and continues to expect to return $600 million through share repurchases for the full year. Remaining availability under consolidated repurchase plans was $617 million as of October 22.
  • Liquidity and Securitization CapacityAs of September 30, liquidity was $684 million, consisting of $227 million of unrestricted cash and $457 million of revolving credit availability. HGV had $450 million of remaining capacity on its $1 billion warehouse facility and expects two fourth-quarter securitization transactions, including a domestic transaction of between $450 million and $500 million.
  • Resilient Travel Demand and New Buyer ActivityManagement said tour flow was consistent with expectations and grew 2% to 236,000, driven by continued growth in the new buyer channel. Arrivals on the books, occupancy levels and package pipelines remained favorable, and Bluegreen new buyer transactions increased 18% in the quarter.
  • Long-Term Growth FrameworkManagement said its long-term algorithm remains achievable after the current year and difficult comparisons. The stated framework is low- to mid-single-digit tour flow growth combined with low- to single-digit VPG growth, with the objective of returning to consistent EBITDA growth.
