Q3 2026 Earnings Call Summary
The call was predominantly positive, with revenue, adjusted EBITDA, ARR, user growth, retention, cash flow and full-year guidance all showing strong performance. Alkami also highlighted progress in DSSP, MANTL, AI, treasury management and bank-market win rates. Offsetting concerns included new-logo activity below the historical average, customer uncertainty during the strategic review, third-party cost and gross-margin pressure, executive departures and uncertainty around future new-logo timing and the database conversion.
For the fourth quarter of 2026, Alkami expects revenue of $139.7 million to $141.2 million, representing growth of 15.6% to 16.9%, and adjusted EBITDA of $30 million to $31 million, or a 21.7% margin at the midpoint; for the full year, it now expects revenue of $530.5 million to $532 million, representing growth of 19.6% to 19.9%, adjusted EBITDA of $98 million to $99 million, or an 18.5% margin at the midpoint, and stock-based compensation of less than 14% of revenue, with over 500 basis points of margin expansion, mid-single-digit ARPU growth, and a path to Rule of 45 by 2030 assuming gross margin approaching 70%, roughly 300 basis points of annual adjusted EBITDA margin expansion, and stock-based compensation falling below 10% of revenue; Alkami will provide its full 2027 outlook with its fourth quarter results, but said its 2027 plan will be built on 19% live ARR growth this quarter, approximately $56 million of ARR backlog expected to mostly go live over the next 12 months, continued ARPU growth, and expected margin expansion.
- Third-Quarter Revenue and Profitability Beat GuidanceAlkami said third-quarter revenue and profitability were ahead of expectations. Revenue was $134.9 million, up 19% year-over-year and above the high end of guidance. Adjusted EBITDA was $26.3 million, above the high end of expectations, with a 19.5% margin and expansion of over 530 basis points year-over-year.
- Raised Full-Year Revenue and EBITDA OutlookAlkami raised its full-year 2026 outlook to revenue of $530.5 million to $532 million, representing growth of 19.6% to 19.9%, and adjusted EBITDA of $98 million to $99 million, representing an 18.5% margin at the midpoint. The company also expects stock-based compensation to be less than 14% of revenue.
- Fourth-Quarter Guidance Indicates Continued GrowthFourth-quarter 2026 revenue guidance is $139.7 million to $141.2 million, representing growth of 15.6% to 16.9%. Adjusted EBITDA guidance is $30 million to $31 million, or a 21.7% margin at the midpoint.
- Strong Live ARR and Revenue VisibilityLive ARR increased 19% to $533 million. Alkami reported approximately $56 million of ARR backlog, representing 31 new clients and roughly 1 million digital users, with the majority expected to go live over the next 12 months. Remaining performance obligations were approximately $1.7 billion, or 3.2 times live ARR.
- Subscription Revenue and Customer Expansion MomentumSubscription revenue grew 20% and represented 96% of total revenue. Growth was primarily driven by new customers going live and expansion within existing customers. Average ARR per client reached approximately $1.7 million, and the number of clients at or above $2 million in ARR increased to 56 from 18 at the end of 2021.
- DSSP and MANTL Adoption Continued to ExpandAlkami signed 14 new MANTL clients and five additional clients contracted for DSSP, bringing the number of clients contracted for all three DSSP products to 60. The company now has 544 unique clients contracted for digital banking or MANTL, including 86 contracted for both platforms.
- Digital Banking User and Client GrowthAlkami exited the quarter with 323 live digital banking clients and 24.4 million registered users, an increase of 2.8 million users, or 13%, year-over-year. Over the past 12 months, the company implemented 36 clients supporting 1.4 million digital users, while existing clients increased digital adoption by 1.5 million users.
- Strong Client Retention and ARPU GrowthDigital banking ARR churn has been less than 1% annually over the past three years, usually resulting from a client merger. ARPU increased to $21.88, up 5% year-over-year, driven primarily by cross-sell execution, increased user adoption among existing clients and the mix of new live banks.
- Record Core Conversion Execution and Launch ActivityAlkami completed seven core conversions during the year, a record, including six of its largest clients representing more than 3.5 million digital users. The company said it expects to nearly double that number next year. In the third quarter, it brought 10 digital banking clients and 26 MANTL clients live, launched four digital banking clients in a single day, and planned nine launches in 12 business days.
- Long-Term Platform Deployment ScaleFrom 2020 through the end of the third quarter, Alkami brought 229 financial institutions onto its digital banking platform, along with their 8.4 million account holders. Over the last 12 months, it added 2.8 million users to the platform.
- Operating Expense Leverage and Margin ExpansionThird-quarter operating expenses were $59.4 million, or 44% of revenue, representing approximately 600 basis points of year-over-year improvement. The improvement was driven by personnel cost efficiencies achieved through increased scale and was realized across all areas of operating expense. Alkami continues to expect over 500 basis points of margin expansion for the full year.
- Cash Flow Generation and Capital AllocationAlkami generated nearly $22 million of operating cash flow in the third quarter and ended the quarter with $85 million in cash and marketable securities. It repurchased $10 million of stock during the quarter, bringing total repurchases through September 30, 2026, to $20 million. The company said buybacks are opportunistic, funded by excess cash flow and also help offset dilution.
- Progress Toward Long-Term Profitability TargetsManagement reaffirmed its path toward a Rule of 45 by 2030, assuming gross margin approaching 70%, roughly 300 basis points of annual adjusted EBITDA margin expansion and stock-based compensation below 10% of revenue. Management said its sharper focus on profitability is expected to drive margin expansion in 2027.
- AI Product Development and Strategic PositioningAlkami is building an agentic conversational experience within its digital banking platform and connectors to leading external AI assistants. The company has three agents in beta for onboarding and account opening: a KYC agent, a document review agent and an MCP server that answers questions using an institution's application and account data. Management said approximately 10% of current revenue comes from AI products already in the portfolio, including fraud management.
- Internal AI Platform and Future Investment AreasAlkami built an internal AI platform used daily by more than 100 employees across the company. Management said the platform understands roles and skills, protects sensitive data, carries company context, works across teams and optimizes across models. Client priorities around internal AI transformation and new agentic applications will shape investment areas in 2027.
- Improved Bank-Market Win RatesManagement identified win-rate improvement in the bank market as a bright spot and said it hit its targets for the first three quarters of the year. The company expects the conclusion of the strategic review to help reduce uncertainty in customer decisions.
- Treasury Management Feature ProgressAlkami identified between 24 and 28 treasury-management features or feature enhancements needed to compete with leading offerings. The majority had entered customer usage by the third quarter, approximately six more were in beta, and management expects to be largely complete with the targeted feature set by year-end for community banks with $500 million to $10 billion in assets.
- Fraud Management Opportunity Under EvaluationManagement described strong customer interest in an AI application combining data analytics and dynamic workflow management to address fraud. Alkami plans to research the opportunity with six build customers to determine whether it can solve the problem through an AI application built on a foundation model.
- Strategic Review Concluded With Standalone PlanAlkami's Board unanimously determined that executing the company's long-range plan as an independent public company was the best path to maximize shareholder value. Management said the conclusion provided clarity to the end market and allowed teams to refocus on winning new business and executing for clients.
