Covestro AG is a leading supplier of advanced polymer materials and customized application solutions. The company's operations are organized into two main divisions: Performance Materials, and Solutions & Specialties. The Performance Materials division is responsible for the creation, manufacturing, and distribution of high-performance substances like polyurethanes and polycarbonates. It also provides fundamental chemicals such as diphenylmethane diisocyanate (MDI), toluylene diisocyanate, long-chain polyols, and polycarbonate resins. These materials are integral to sectors like furniture and wood processing, construction, and the automotive and transportation industries, also serving as vital components in products ranging from roof structures and insulation for buildings and refrigeration units to mattresses and vehicle seating. Conversely, the Solutions & Specialties segment offers a diverse array of specialized polymer products. This portfolio includes precursors for coatings and adhesives, various types of polycarbonates, advanced MDI and polyol compounds, sophisticated films, elastomers, and thermoplastic polyurethanes. These innovations serve critical functions in the automotive and transportation, electrical, electronics and household appliances, construction, and healthcare sectors, along with contributing to items like composite resins for wind turbine rotor blades, laptop casings, and floodlights. The company's products are brought to market through trading houses and distributors. Its operational footprint extends across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Latin America, North America (including the United States and Canada), and the People's Republic of China. Founded in 1863, Covestro maintains its headquarters in Leverkusen, Germany.
