Bulls Say, Bears Say
Bulls Say
Profitability RecoveryThe return to profitability and further improvement in 2025 show meaningful earnings recovery after several loss-making years. Strong operating and net margins can support internal reinvestment and resilience, although maintaining this performance will depend on stabilising the revenue base.
Low LeverageVery low debt relative to equity reduces balance-sheet pressure and gives the company greater flexibility through market cycles. Lower leverage can limit financing risk, protect capital during weaker trading conditions, and leave more capacity to support regulated financial-services operations.
Strong Cash GenerationPositive and expanding operating and free cash flow provide tangible support for reported earnings and improve the company’s ability to fund operations internally. Close tracking between free cash flow and earnings also suggests the recent profit recovery is supported by cash conversion rather than accounting gains alone.
Bears Say
Sharp Revenue ContractionThe steep 2025 revenue decline demonstrates that the company’s earnings base remains unstable despite the profit recovery. Sustained top-line contraction could reduce operating leverage, weaken the durability of current margins, and make future profits more dependent on favourable market conditions or non-recurring drivers.
Cyclical Cash FlowsThe history of negative operating and free cash flow indicates that cash generation is not consistently dependable across market cycles. Even with strong recent performance, a downturn in trading or financing activity could materially reduce internally generated funds and constrain financial flexibility.
Modest Shareholder ReturnsPositive ROE confirms that the turnaround is generating shareholder returns, but the modest level indicates that improved profits have not yet translated into highly efficient use of equity capital. This may limit the pace of compounding unless profitability and revenue quality improve further.
