Bulls Say, Bears Say
Bulls Say
Record Backlog
The record backlog provides substantial revenue visibility across both T&D and C&I, reducing reliance on near-term awards. Its 38% annual increase indicates strong customer demand and supports continued growth as projects are converted into revenue over coming quarters.
Structural Market Demand
Long-term investment in grid modernization, electrification, resilience, data centers, and industrial infrastructure supports a durable addressable market. MYR’s presence across T&D and C&I allows it to participate in several structural spending trends rather than one temporary project cycle.
Liquidity And Moderate Leverage
Strong liquidity and low funded leverage give MYR flexibility to fund working capital, capital expenditures, acquisitions, and project growth. This financial capacity improves resilience during construction-cycle cash swings while preserving options to pursue attractive strategic opportunities.
Bears Say
Cash Flow Volatility
Uneven cash conversion is a meaningful risk for a project-based contractor because billing timing, project starts, completions, and capital spending can diverge from reported earnings. Continued volatility could constrain self-funded growth and increase reliance on available credit.
Margin Execution Risk
The presence of project inefficiencies shows that improved margins are not fully guaranteed across the portfolio. Cost overruns or weaker execution can quickly erode profitability in contracting, making earnings less predictable even when revenue and backlog remain strong.
Acquisition Cost Headwinds
Acquisition-related amortization and higher employee and integration costs can weigh on segment margins while acquired operations are absorbed. These expenses may persist beyond the initial deal period, reducing the near-term earnings benefit of otherwise successful growth investments.

MYR Group (MYP) Earnings & Revenues
MYP Earnings Call
Earnings Call SentimentPositive
The call was strongly positive, highlighted by record revenue, net income, EBITDA, backlog, significant C&I growth, improved margins, favorable acquisition performance, strong liquidity, and supportive market demand. The company also provided substantial growth expectations and described active project and acquisition pipelines. The main challenges were lower operating and free cash flow, project inefficiencies, higher SG&A and acquisition-related amortization, working-capital pressure from customer payment terms and higher interest rates, and the delayed timing of larger T&D projects.
