Bulls Say, Bears Say
Bulls Say
Profitability TurnaroundThe company returned to consistent profitability after multi-year losses, with solid earnings and strong 2026 operating profit. This supports sustainable internal funding for capex, spare-parts inventory and R&D, improving resilience and ability to execute long-term service contracts.
Improving Balance Sheet / Falling LeverageDeclining debt and a materially rebuilt equity base enhance financial flexibility, lowering refinancing risk for large engineered projects. A stronger balance sheet supports bidding on longer-duration contracts and absorbs project timing variability over the medium term.
Recurring After‑sales And Service RevenueA sizable installed base and lifecycle service offerings create recurring, higher-margin revenue streams that reduce dependence on new equipment cycles. This aftermarket focus helps stabilize revenue and margins across shipping and port investment cycles.
Bears Say
Historically Volatile Cash FlowWide swings in operating and free cash flow over recent years make future cash availability uncertain. Irregular conversion impairs the company's ability to commit to long-term investments or smooth dividends and raises sensitivity to project delays or capex timing.
Cyclicality And Project Execution RiskRevenue and margins are structurally exposed to shipping and infrastructure cycles and to execution risk on bespoke engineering projects. These structural sensitivities can produce multi-year swings in revenue and profitability despite operational improvements.
Legacy Elevated Leverage And Past LossesPrior years of high leverage and historical losses leave less margin for error; while leverage is improving, legacy balance-sheet strain raises funding and credit vulnerability if project setbacks or cyclical downturns recur.
