Q3 2026 Earnings Call Summary

Q3 2026
Earnings Call Date:Nov 04, 2026|% Change Since:1.88%|
Earnings Call Sentiment|Positive

The call was predominantly positive. Bruker reported significant margin expansion, 24.4% non-GAAP EPS growth, improved free cash flow, debt reduction, sustained bookings above one, strong China and semiconductor metrology bookings, and reaffirmed full-year guidance. These positives were partly offset by modest organic revenue growth, BSI revenue pressure from semiconductor pushouts, weakness in selected academic and government and industrial markets, a $175 million Spatial Biology goodwill impairment, and a GAAP loss. Management expressed increased confidence in the fourth quarter and meaningful growth and margin improvement in 2027.

Company Guidance

For fiscal year 2026, Bruker expects reported revenue of $3.52 billion-$3.56 billion, representing reported growth of 2.5%-3.5%, organic revenue growth of 1%-2%, contribution from acquisition to approximately 1.5%, currency to be approximately neutral, non-GAAP operating margin expansion of 250-300 basis points, and non-GAAP EPS of $2.10-$2.15, up 15%-17%; for the fourth quarter, it expects organic revenue to grow in the lower mid-single digits percentage year over year, with meaningful sequential and year-over-year increases in operating margin and EPS, a likely $1 billion in revenue quarter, and operating margin stepping up to the high teens, while for fiscal year 2027 it is committed to double-digit EPS growth, is seeking greater than 100 basis points of further operating margin expansion, and expects organic growth at least to the lower mid-single digits; BMID is expected to be a high single-digit growth area long term, and Bruker targets reducing its tax rate by at least 50 basis points on a year-over-year basis in 2027.

  • Third-Quarter Revenue and EPS GrowthThird-quarter 2026 reported revenue increased 1.6% year over year to $874 million, with organic growth of 0.7%. Non-GAAP diluted EPS was $0.56, up 24.4% from $0.45 in the third quarter of 2025.
  • Significant Margin ExpansionThird-quarter non-GAAP gross margin increased 120 basis points year over year to 51.3%, while non-GAAP operating margin increased 400 basis points to 16.3%. The improvement was driven by cost-saving actions and favorable mix, including significant mix improvement in NMR and optical microscopy.
  • Cost-Saving Program on TrackBruker said it is on track to achieve its $140 million annualized run-rate cost-out target. Cost-saving actions had a significant impact in the third quarter and are expected to have an additional compounding effect in the fourth quarter.
  • Positive Bookings MomentumBruker Scientific Instruments maintained a book-to-bill greater than one for the fifth consecutive quarter. BSI organic bookings and backlog were both up mid-single digits percentage year to date, while third-quarter BSI bookings increased low single digits year over year and mid to high single digits sequentially.
  • U.S. Academic and Government Bookings ReboundThird-quarter BSI organic bookings in the U.S. academic and government market grew in the double digits percentage year over year, marking the first year-over-year bookings growth in that market since the NIH funding disruption in 2025. Bruker also expects year-over-year organic bookings growth in the U.S. academic and government market in the fourth quarter.
  • Strong China Bookings and Revenue TrendsBSI organic bookings in China increased over 20% in both the third quarter and year to date, with broad-based demand strength across almost all BSI end markets. Third-quarter BSI revenue in China increased in the low double-digit percentage range, and the company expects China order strength to continue in the fourth quarter.
  • Semiconductor Metrology Order GrowthBSI semiconductor metrology organic bookings increased greater than 30% year to date, driven by demand related to AI infrastructure, including logic chip foundries, high bandwidth memory, and advanced packaging. Bruker expects most of these orders to convert into revenue in fiscal year 2027, with some conversion in fiscal year 2028.
  • BEST Segment GrowthYear-to-date BEST revenue increased 8.3% on a constant-exchange-rate basis, with strong growth in research instruments and solid growth in superconductors. Research instrument order growth was driven by ITER and fusion-related research, high-energy physics, advanced light sources, and free-electron laser projects. BEST also delivered margin improvement.
  • Microbiology and Infection Diagnostics GrowthThe Microbiology and Infection Diagnostics Group generated year-to-date revenue of $396 million, up low single digits percentage, driven primarily by robust molecular diagnostics revenue growth. Genius platform placements were ahead of business plan, and Bruker expects that to support consumables acceleration next year and beyond.
  • Long-Term Opportunity in Infectious Disease DiagnosticsBruker described its infectious disease diagnostics business as a long-term high single-digit growth area with very nice margins. The company expects potential FDA clearance for the Wave antibiotic susceptibility testing product before year-end or in the first quarter, initially targeting the U.S. market.
  • MIMETAS Acquisition Expands Drug Discovery PlatformBruker acquired a majority position in MIMETAS, a humanized organ-on-a-chip platform focused on New Approach Methodologies. The company said MIMETAS has many disease models, can be automated, and is poised for significant double-digit growth with high gross margins.
  • Strategic Investment in AI-Driven ChemistryIn August, Bruker began a strategic collaboration with and made a minority investment in Atinary Technologies, which develops self-driving labs and agentic AI-driven chemistry research and development. Atinary integrates Bruker Chemspeed lab automation and analytical measurement instruments into its workflows.
  • Advances in Proteomics and Disease BiologyBruker launched further functional proteomics workflows at the international HUPO conference, including advances in MultiDIA, plasma proteomics, single-cell proteomics, proteoform analysis, glycobiology, oligonucleotide analysis, and native RNA analysis. The company said these workflows are intended to support drug discovery, disease biology, and AI models.
  • Improved Free Cash Flow and DeleveragingThird-quarter free cash flow improved by $151 million year over year, driven mainly by higher net income excluding the non-cash goodwill impairment and improved working capital. Bruker paid down an additional $58 million of debt during the quarter, and its net leverage ratio was 2.4x as of September 30, below its previously communicated leverage target.
  • Full-Year 2026 Guidance ReconfirmedBruker reconfirmed fiscal 2026 organic revenue growth guidance of 1%-2%, acquisition contribution of approximately 1.5%, non-GAAP operating margin expansion of 250-300 basis points, and non-GAAP EPS of $2.10-$2.15, representing growth of 15%-17% compared with fiscal 2025. Reported revenue guidance was updated to $3.52 billion-$3.56 billion, with currency now expected to be approximately neutral.
  • Positive Fourth-Quarter and 2027 OutlookThe company expects fourth-quarter organic revenue growth in the lower mid-single digits percentage year over year, along with meaningful sequential and year-over-year increases in operating margin and EPS. Management said fourth-quarter execution is significantly de-risked, with China orders and some semiconductor orders contributing, and is targeting double-digit EPS growth and greater than 100 basis points of operating margin expansion in 2027.
  • Potential Tax Rate ImprovementManagement said its tax rate is tracking around 27.5% and that tax-planning initiatives are expected to benefit the rate in 2027 and 2028. The company is targeting a reduction of at least 50 basis points year over year in 2027 and consistently thereafter.
  • Additional Capacity for Disciplined M&AFollowing debt reduction and leverage below its target, Bruker said it has more capacity for acquisitions. Management emphasized that it would remain disciplined and focused on EPS accretion, while noting that recent smaller acquisitions added technically important capabilities to the microbiology and molecular diagnostics businesses.
