Q2 2026 Earnings Call Summary
The call was strongly optimistic, with record consumer demand, fan counts up over 10%, double-digit full-year growth expectations, strong international and amphitheater performance, improved Ticketmaster prospects, and substantial venue expansion opportunities. The main challenges were temporary U.S. stadium availability, the long ramp time for newly built venues, and Live Nation's currently small market share in Japan.
Live Nation expects 2026 to be “an absolute record year,” with “a strong Q3 and Q4”; full-year “double-digit fan growth” is expected to drive “double-digit revenue and AOI growth” and “margin expansion,” with “double-digit fan growth year-on-year in each of Q3 and Q4” in both the U.S. and internationally. Ticketmaster’s full-year AOI growth expectation is “at mid-single digits,” while fee-bearing ticket count is growing by “high single digits”; secondary is “below teens,” a “low double-digit portion” of global GTV, and the concert piece is “probably 5% of our global GTV.” Cancellations are “1.1% cancellations versus 1.6 average,” amphitheater attendance is up “double digits” with “70% focused” growth in the back half, and Live Nation has acquired three arenas, expects “a few more before the end of 2027, probably four or five,” and is adding capacity for “about 15 million fans between what we're building and buying between 2026 and 2027.” CapEx impact is expected to begin “probably 2028,” arena or large theater builds generally take “two to three years,” and completed venues take “a couple of years” to fully ramp; 2027 “looks like a strong year,” Japan is a “$1+ billion live business,” with “90% of business” local Japanese business, and Latin America is in “the second inning of the nine-inning game.”
- Broad-Based Consumer Demand GrowthLive Nation reported no consumer issues to date, with fan counts up over 10% across international markets, the U.S., clubs, amphitheaters, stadiums, all genres, and all venues. Consumers are buying at record levels, and the company expects 2026 to be another record year after multiple record years.
- Strong Venue Spending and Lower CancellationsFood and beverage spending at owned and operated venues is up year over year, with liquor also up and no observed consumer pullback. Cancellations are running at 1.1%, below the historical average of 1.6%, while deferred revenue is at record levels.
- Raised Full-Year Concert OutlookLive Nation expects double-digit fan growth for the full year, driving double-digit revenue and AOI growth, followed ultimately by margin expansion. The company expects double-digit fan growth in both Q3 and Q4 in the U.S. and internationally.
- Strong International PerformanceInternational growth was strong in the first half and is expected to continue with double-digit fan-count growth in both Q3 and Q4. Live Nation said international performance is visible across every segment through the first half, with a substantial runway for growth.
- Deferred Revenue Supports Future ShowsShows are booked and confirmed, and deferred revenue has reached a level that gives management confidence that tickets are already in the bank and primarily need to be fulfilled through the scheduled shows.
- Ticketmaster AOI Growth Outlook IncreasedManagement said it was extremely happy with Ticketmaster's quarterly performance and raised its full-year AOI growth expectation to mid-single digits.
- Ticketmaster Fee-Bearing Ticket GrowthTicketmaster's fee-bearing ticket count is growing by high single digits so far this year, driven heavily by increased activity and utilization in existing arenas and stadiums, despite limited additions of new U.S. venues.
- International Ticketing ExpansionTicketmaster is operating in six Latin America markets and six Asia-Pacific markets, where its platform is quickly becoming established as best in class. Growth is supported by new markets, additional venues, and increased global concert activity.
- Ticketmaster Global Growth OpportunitiesManagement cited multiple ongoing growth drivers for Ticketmaster, including increased concert activity, entry into new markets, additional venues, and greater participation in the global marketplace.
- Secondary Ticketing Remains a Limited ShareSecondary ticketing represents a low double-digit portion of global GTV, described as below teens, while the concert portion is approximately 5% of global GTV. Management does not view this as a major impediment to future growth.
- Spotify Reserved Partnership LaunchSpotify Reserved launched in May with Role Model as its first program. Live Nation described the arrangement as a win-win partnership in which Spotify receives access to a small allocation of presale tickets and Live Nation is compensated for the presale asset.
- Expanded Ticket Distribution and Fan ReachLive Nation continues to use partners such as Spotify, Verizon, Citi, Facebook, Snapchat, and Groupon to provide additional discovery signals, reach more fans, distribute tickets, and support efforts to combat bots. Management said these partnerships are particularly relevant for the approximately 90% of shows that do not sell out.
- Record Amphitheater PerformanceAmphitheater attendance was up double digits through the first half, with approximately 70% of the annual fan growth expected in the second half. Management characterized this as the best year the amphitheater business has had.
- Higher Amphitheater Onsite and Premium SpendingPer-cap onsite spending is up across the board, including continued strength in liquor, ready-to-drink products, and shaker cups. Premium ticket buying is also performing well, and new amphitheaters are showing strong performance.
- New Amphitheater Product OfferingsNew company-branded products are receiving high marks from fans for quality, while lower-cost food and beverage offerings are also performing well.
- Arena Acquisitions and Added CapacityLive Nation completed acquisitions of Impact Arena in Bangkok, Forum di Milano in Milan, and Movistar in Buenos Aires. The company expects four or five more acquisitions before the end of 2027 and is on track to add capacity for about 15 million fans between venues it is building and buying in 2026 and 2027.
- Venue Ramp-Up PlansAcquired venues are generally expected to get up to speed quickly, with venues bought this year or next expected to be substantially up to speed in bookings and fan count the following year. Sponsorship may take longer depending on existing agreements, while newly built venues generally require a couple of years after completion to reach full fan-count and sponsorship levels.
- Japan Market OpportunityJapan was described as a $1+ billion live business and one of the world's major pop markets. Live Nation currently has a very small market share, has found a local partner, and sees an opportunity to grow its share through global tours, local business, venues, and ticketing.
- Ticketmaster Platform and AI RoadmapManagement said Ticketmaster has made substantial progress under Samir's leadership over the past nine months and has a clear roadmap for improving both the online platform and mobile app. AI is being used and explored for long-tail event discovery, coding and development, and direct fan experiences onsite and in the app.
- Ongoing Unsold-Ticket InitiativesTicketmaster continues to work on selling unsold tickets through fan discovery, ticket pricing information, marketing, promotions, and improved use of data. Management said continued strong ticket sales are partly demonstrating progress in presenting opportunities to fans.
- Positive 2027 Touring PipelineLive Nation said 2027 looks like a strong year, with a significant percentage of bookings already completed and another strong global year expected across stadiums, arenas, and amphitheaters.
- Long-Term Latin America ExpansionManagement characterized Live Nation's Latin America business as being in the second inning of a nine-inning game and said it remains very underdeveloped in Brazil. The company announced an arena in São Paulo and several other Latin American arenas that are not yet operating.
- Disciplined Venue InvestmentFuture capital expenditures are expected to remain a largely organic, incremental effort, shaped by the timing of venue builds. Management said it remains focused on projects expected to deliver the desired returns and continues to turn down projects that do not meet those criteria.
- Venue Nation Growth AdvantageVenue Nation fan growth is expected to exceed third-party venue growth because Live Nation-operated venues benefit from both efforts to increase show counts in existing buildings and the addition of new buildings.
