Bulls Say, Bears Say
Bulls Say
Improved ProfitabilityThe recovery from a FY2021 loss to FY2026 net income of ~¥743M, alongside stronger gross, EBIT and net margins, indicates improved operating execution. Sustaining these gains would strengthen earnings resilience even without rapid revenue growth.
Conservative Balance SheetDebt-to-equity fell to ~0.03 from ~0.29 in FY2021 while equity grew steadily. This conservative structure reduces financial pressure, preserves flexibility for investment or shareholder returns, and improves resilience through automotive cycles.
Strong Cash GenerationOperating cash flow rose to ~¥2.12B from ~¥1.65B, while free cash flow reached ~¥1.67B in FY2026. Strong current cash generation can fund operations and capital needs internally, though conversion should be monitored across cycles.
Bears Say
Weak Revenue MomentumRevenue has been essentially flat over multiple years and declined ~1.1% in FY2026. Limited top-line momentum constrains operating leverage and leaves earnings more exposed to cost inflation, customer-volume changes, or weaker demand in internal-combustion applications.
Volatile Cash ConversionAlthough FY2026 cash flow was strong, earlier periods included negative free cash flow, showing sensitivity to working-capital swings and cycle conditions. Uneven conversion can reduce the dependability of internally generated funding and complicate planning.
Moderate Capital ReturnsFY2026 ROE was about 5.9%, described as solid but not best-in-class and dependent on recent margin gains. This suggests capital productivity remains moderate, so sustained shareholder returns require continued margin execution rather than balance-sheet strength alone.
