Bulls Say, Bears Say
Bulls Say
Recurring Lease Revenue
The core business of long-term operating aircraft leases creates recurring, contractually backed rental income that is relatively durable over multi-year horizons. This steadier revenue base supports predictable cash inflows and underpins portfolio value during normal cycles, aiding planning and underwriting.
Integrated Leasing Value Chain
Operating across acquisition, financing, lease and fleet management, plus aircraft trading and asset management, provides multiple, complementary revenue streams. This vertical breadth helps capture trading gains, servicing fees and leasing income, diversifying cash generation and reducing single-segment reliance.
Improving Revenue And Profitability
Reported solid revenue growth over the cycle and a profitability rebound in 2024–2025 indicate improved operating performance and better margin capture. Sustained improvement supports reinvestment capacity, credit metrics over time, and the ability to maintain lease portfolio economics if the trend persists.
Bears Say
Extremely High Leverage
Debt-to-equity at roughly 9–12x implies very elevated financial leverage, heightening refinancing and interest-rate sensitivity. Such a capital structure limits strategic flexibility, raises default risk in stress, and makes earnings and cashflow vulnerable to funding-cost shifts or weaker lease demand over months to years.
Persistently Negative Free Cash Flow
Consistently negative free cash flow, including a sharp decline in 2025, signals reliance on external financing to fund capex, acquisitions or working capital. This persistent cash shortfall constrains capacity to de-lever, build liquidity buffers, or sustain distributions without ongoing market access.
Volatile Margins & Weak Cash Conversion
Material margin volatility and inconsistent operating cash flow (strong in some years, very low or negative in others) reduce earnings quality. Weak conversion of operating cash to reported net income increases uncertainty about sustainable profit levels and complicates forecasting free cash generation.
