Why Quantum Stocks RGTI, QBTS, IONQ, QUBT, and INFQ Rallied Tuesday

Why Quantum Stocks RGTI, QBTS, IONQ, QUBT, and INFQ Rallied Tuesday
Story Highlights
  • Quantum stocks gained between 3.71% and 9.28% on Tuesday.
  • The rally reflected broader tech buying, not new sector news.

Pure-play quantum computing stocks moved higher on Tuesday as investors returned to speculative technology shares, with the gains appearing tied to a broad market rebound rather than a new industry announcement.

Rigetti Computing, Inc. (RGTI) rose 7.23%. D-Wave Quantum Inc. (QBTS) gained 6.46%, IonQ, Inc. (IONQ) moved 3.71% higher, while Quantum Computing Inc. (QUBT) and Infleqtion (INFQ) advanced 3.79% and 9.28%, respectively.

The Nasdaq Composite climbed 1.3% and ended a three-day losing streak. Semiconductor stocks led the recovery, with the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index (SOXQ) gaining 5.2% as investors moved back into companies tied to AI and advanced computing. The small-cap Russell 2000 (IWM) also rose 1.5%.

No Changes in the Near-Term Outlook

That backdrop often has an outsized effect on quantum stocks. These companies are valued largely on their long-term technology and sales potential, making their shares highly sensitive to changes in market sentiment. The broad rise across several quantum names also points to investors buying the sector rather than reacting to news from one company.

Tuesday’s rally does not appear to change the near-term sales outlook or commercialization timeline for any of the companies. The next more durable move will likely depend on company-specific results, including revenue growth, new contracts, technical milestones, and updates on how quickly each business is turning its technology into paying customer use.

On TipRanks’ Comparison Tool, investors can compare all the pure-play quantum stocks and gain a broader view on each of the stocks and the quantum computing industry as a whole.
