“Vibe Working”: Microsoft Stock (NASDAQ:MSFT) Notches Up on Odd New AI Tool

Story Highlights

Microsoft prepares to launch “vibe working,” using AI tools in productivity systems, and readies new accessories for the ROG Xbox Ally.

“Vibe Working”: Microsoft Stock (NASDAQ:MSFT) Notches Up on Odd New AI Tool

Of all the things tech giant Microsoft (MSFT) has rolled out in recent days, “vibe working” might be one of the newest and strangest yet. This new tool, backed up by generative artificial intelligence (AI), is presenting some new and interesting possibilities. Investors seem sympathetic, meanwhile, as Microsoft shares notched up fractionally in Monday afternoon’s trading.

Basically, Microsoft’s “vibe working” is poised to allow humans the ability to generate documents by filling in the broad strokes and letting the AI do the heavy lifting from there. These tools will be added first to web-based versions of Microsoft Office, reports note, followed by desktop apps later on.

There will be two means by which Microsoft achieves “vibe working.” Starting with Excel and Word, users will have access to “Agent Mode,” which gives users access to AI tools that can populate documents with content. PowerPoint will also be getting an Agent Mode later on, reports note. Meanwhile, Copilot will be getting an “Office Agent” tool that allows for PowerPoint and Word document creation, and Excel tools will follow later. Essentially, this is Microsoft’s attempt to get AI introduced into productivity tools, which are Microsoft’s bread and butter.

Accessories Inbound

Meanwhile, on the less productive side of things, Microsoft recently announced the first set of accessories for the upcoming ROG Ally. Three of them were recently unveiled, including a microSD card and a solid-state drive (SSD) extension in the one-to-four-terabyte range. The third is a “Premium Carrying Case,” which is pretty much exactly what the name suggests.

The carrying case seems to indeed be premium, complete with fleece lining and a water-repellent exterior. It is odd that fleece was used, as there is a static electricity risk involved. But the storage mechanisms will be welcome, especially given the size of some Xbox games these days. The SD card will top out at two terabytes, while the drive extension will offer one, two, and four terabyte sizes.

Is Microsoft a Buy, Hold or Sell?

Turning to Wall Street, analysts have a Strong Buy consensus rating on MSFT stock based on 34 Buys and one Hold assigned in the past three months, as indicated by the graphic below. After a 18.86% rally in its share price over the past year, the average MSFT price target of $628.36 per share implies 21.97% upside potential.
