U.S. Jobless Claims Fall to 228,000, Beating Expectations

The Labor Department has released unemployment benefit data for the week ended May 3, reporting that U.S. jobless claims totaled 228,000. That figure was better than the expectation for 230,000 claims. A week ago, jobless claims tallied in at 241,000.

U.S. Jobless Claims Ahead of Expectations

Furthermore, continuing unemployment claims for the week ended April 26 tallied in at 1.88 million compared to 1.91 million a week before. The data lags U.S. jobless claims by one week.
