U.S.-India Trade Deal ‘Close to the finish line,’ Says Top Trump Advisor

White House economic advisor Kevin Hassett said this morning that a trade and tariff deal between the U.S. and India is “close to the finish line.” Hassett added that trade deals could be signed as soon as this week in an interview with CNBC’s “Squawk Box.”

Top Trump Advisor Teases U.S.-India Trade Deal

Last Friday, CNBC TV18 reported that a U.S.-India trade deal could be announced within 10 days, citing sources close to the matter. The deal would reportedly allow some Indian products to be exempt from U.S. reciprocal tariffs with others receiving zero duty charges. All other products would be subject to a 10% baseline tariff.

The U.S. had a $45.7 billion goods trade deficit with India in 2024.
