Tariffs Help Drive U.S. April Budget Surplus
The U.S. received a boost in revenue from tax collection season and from an increase in customs duties. Customs duties totaled $16 billion in April compared to $9 billion a year ago.
For fiscal 2025 so far, or from October 2024 to April 2025, the U.S. has experienced a $1.049 trillion deficit.
