White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt has confirmed that President Trump will attend the Group of Seven (G7) leaders’ summit, which will be held in Kananaskis, Alberta between June 15 and 17. The group consists of the U.S., Canada, France, Germany, Japan, Italy, and the United Kingdom. The European Union also participates in the meeting but is not an official member.

G7 Summit: Trade and Tariffs Capture Spotlight
Trump’s presence will be in focus given his global tariffs and his statements that Canada should become the 51st U.S. state, which citizens of the country have harshly rejected. Common topics of discussion for the event include global trade, stability, energy, and technology.
Ahead of the leaders’ summit, the G7 finance ministers’ meeting began earlier this week. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, who is in attendance, noted that discussions with other finance leaders went well.
