“I think you’re going to find it to be amazing,” Trump said on Sunday. “I think we found an answer to autism.”

Early medical trials of leucovorin, which is a decades-old, low-cost drug used to ease the side effects of cancer treatments, have shown promise in improving communication in children with autism.

Trump Administration to Link Tylenol Use with Autism Risk

In addition, the Trump administration plans to release a statement saying that pregnant women taking acetaminophen, the main active ingredient in Tylenol, could have a higher risk of having children with autism. Kenvue (KVUE), the manufacturer of Tylenol, has dropped sharply on the upcoming announcement.

“We believe independent, sound science clearly shows that taking acetaminophen does not cause autism,” said a company spokesperson.

Medical experts have pushed back at the potential link. Former FDA Commissioner Scott Gottlieb said on Monday that there is no clear evidence that Tylenol causes autism and that further studies should be conducted.
