Yesterday, the White House said that Trump would not meet with Putin unless Putin also agreed to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Trump later stepped back from that claim, saying he would meet with Putin regardless.

Putin-Zelenskyy Meeting Could Still Happen

During his presidential campaign, Trump promised to end the Russia-Ukraine war, although the task has proved to be much more difficult than he expected. “I’ve been disappointed before with this one,” Trump said when asked by a reporter if he would be able to broker a ceasefire.

Putin hasn’t turned down the possibility of a meeting with Zelenskyy, saying he has “nothing against it — it is possible — but for this to happen, certain conditions must be created. Unfortunately, such conditions are far away yet.”
