This is Why Opendoor Technologies Stock (OPEN) Rose Today

Opendoor Technologies (OPEN) saw its stock surge over 14% today. The rally came after CEO Kaz Nejatian indicated that the digital home-buying platform might be exploring the use of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies for home purchases.

In response to a user on X who asked about buying homes on Opendoor “using bitcoin or some other cryptos,” Nejatian replied, “We will. Just need to prioritize it.”

Investors are seeing this as a sign that digital currencies like Bitcoin could soon be used for big, real-world purchases, such as buying homes, which is a big shift for the slow-moving real estate market.

While Nejatian offered no specific timeline, his response shows that enabling Bitcoin transactions is a definite goal on Opendoor’s roadmap.

Opendoor Bets Big on AI and Agents

The crypto news comes after a period of major changes for Opendoor. In September 2025, the company appointed Nejatian, the former COO of Shopify (SHOP), as CEO and welcomed its co-founders back to the board.

Nejatian is focused to use AI to transform the company’s operations, a plan that encouraged investors. Also, the company announced a nationwide expansion of its product offerings last month.

Moreover, Opendoor’s new agent-led platform, “Key Connections,” is already showing strong early results. This new approach reportedly doubled the number of sellers accepting cash offers and resulted in a fivefold increase in listing conversions. This model also offers Opendoor more flexibility and reduces capital risk.

Is OPEN Stock a Good Buy?
