The Season’s Upon Us: SiriusXM Stock (NASDAQ:SIRI) Gains as New Christmas Stations Start

So for most of us, the jack-o-lanterns are off the porch, the costumes packed up, and the candy is, well, suffice it to say it has been disposed of appropriately. And with that come thoughts of the next major holiday…no, not Thanksgiving, or at least not for purposes of this article. Here I mean Christmas, and satellite and streaming music giant SiriusXM (SIRI) has fired up a slate of special Christmas music stations despite the fact that there are still over 50 shopping days until Christmas. Investors were pleased, though, and sent shares up nearly 2% in Wednesday morning’s trading.

SiriusXM has one serious monster of a Christmas lineup for the holiday season set up with a whopping 23 seasonal channels now launched. There is a special channel for Mannheim Steamroller, another for the Trans-Siberian Orchestra—who you might remember from Carol of the Bells—and yet another specifically for Anne Murray.

The list carries on from there, with channels for celebrities like Jimmy Fallon, channels for genres of music like a country Christmas as well as a “cool jazz” Christmas. There is even a channel called “Jingle Jamz,” which is dedicated to Christmas as expressed via rhythm & blues and hip-hop artists from the 1990s forward. Multiple channels, meanwhile, will be devoted to Christmas standard fare, so whether you are trying to find Bing Crosby to overlay your dinner with Grandma or even Radio Hanukkah, you will find it on SiriusXM.

Now Appearing: Megyn Kelly

Yesterday marked the first day of Megyn Kelly’s tenure on SiriusXM. The former Fox News Channel host who later moved to NBC is now taking on SiriusXM as part of her production company, known as Devil May Care Media.

Not only is she taking over for Triumph the Insult Comic Dog on Channel 111 with the Megyn Kelly Channel, but also, there is a possibility of further content from Devil May Care to follow. Look for such releases as Next Up with Mark Halperin and Spot On with Link Lauren.

Is SiriusXM Stock a Good Buy?

Turning to Wall Street, analysts have a Hold consensus rating on SIRI stock based on two Buys, two Holds, and four Sells assigned in the past three months, as indicated by the graphic below. After a 17.71% loss in its share price over the past year, the average SIRI price target of $22.75 per share implies 3.27% upside potential.
