Yahoo plans to spin off Vespa, its open-source big data serving tool that powers the company’s search, recommendations, and ad tech, into an independent venture, TechCrunch’s Kyle Wiggers reports. Yahoo is 90% owned by investment funds managed by Apollo Global Management (APO) and 10% by Verizon (VZ).
