Warner Bros. Discovery gaming head J.B. Perrette said that the company is “doubling down” on the sector as it has a “lot more growth opportunity that we can tap into with the IP that we have,” though the company’s strategy going forward will include more live-service, mobile, and free-to-play titles, Gamespot’s Eddie Makuch reports, citing comments from a recent Morgan Stanley speaking event. The executive said that the company’s recent releases have focused on AAA games for console, such as “Hogwarts Legacy” and “Mortal Kombat 1,” but he also noted that the success of those titles is never guaranteed in such a “volatile” market, the author says. Perrette highlighted that the company’s latest major game “Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League” was a disappointment, the author notes. “Rather than just launching a one-and-done console game, how do we develop a game around, for example, a Hogwarts Legacy or Harry Potter, that is a live-service where people can live and work and build and play in that world in an ongoing basis?” he said.
