Volkwagen is weighing whether to replace or extend the life of the VW Polo car in Europe or phase it out completely before the end of the decade as emissions regulations push up the cost of making gas-engine cars, The Financial Times’ Peter Campbell reports. A decision on the Polo is an “open discussion,” according to two people with knowledge of its strategy, with one person saying “It’s all up in the air, and there’s nothing definite yet.” Volkwagen has been making the Polo since 1975, and the current version of the model runs until 2026.
