Visa (V) and Mastercard (MA) are planning to increase fees that many merchants pay when they accept customers’ credit cards and the fee increases are scheduled to start in October and April, people familiar with the matter told The Wall Street Journal’s Angel Au-Yeung, who also cites documents. The changes could result in merchants paying an additional $502M annually in fees, the Journal quotes CMSPI, a consulting company that works with merchants, as having estimated.
