Carronade Capital Management, an activist firm run by Dan Gropper, is publicly calling for Viasat (VSAT) to break up and split off its defense unit from its space-based broadband services, people familiar with the matter told Financial Times’ Amelia Pollard. The firm estimates such a split could add as much as $11B in value to both businesses, according to the sources.
