Unity Technologies canceled a planned town hall and shuttered two offices on Thursday after the company received what it said was a credible death threat in the wake of the company’s recent decision to introduce runtime fees based on game installs, Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier reports, citing people familiar with the matter. The maker of video game tools and technology announced earlier this week that it would start charging game studios a new fee for games made using its software starting January 1, the author notes.
