Unity is backtracking on major aspects of its recently announced controversial price increase, telling employees in an all-hands meeting that it is now weighing changes such as a cap on potential fees, Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier reports. The company, which operates and licenses a suite of video game development tools, announced last week plans to charge customers for each new installation of their game beyond a particular threshold, which received major backlash from its customer base, the author notes. Under the tentative new plan, Unity will restrict fees to 4% of a game’s revenue for customers making over $1M and said that installations counted toward reaching the threshold will not be retroactive, the author says.
